Project Benefits
The Rocky Ford Solar Project is delivering more than American-made power. We’re creating economic opportunity, investing in community priorities, and preserving the local environment.
Economic Growth
The project will be a driver of new investment and opportunity in Nottoway County.
Job Creation: Construction of the facility is expected to bring more than 28 local jobs, ranging from skilled trades to support roles, creating opportunities for residents.
Wages and Benefits: These jobs represent over $2.3 million in wages and benefits, supporting families and strengthening household incomes.
Local Businesses: With over $13.2 million in local economic output, the project will benefit a wide range of businesses—from contractors and equipment suppliers to hotels, restaurants, and stores.
Long-Term Tax Base: Over its operational life, Rocky Ford Solar is projected to generate $8.3 million in new tax revenue, providing a stable, long-term source of funding for schools, roads, and other essential services—without raising taxes on residents.
Community Investment
Support for Local Nonprofits: The project team will contribute to local nonprofit organizations, helping strengthen programs and services that residents rely on.
Local Hiring: Whenever possible, construction and ongoing services will be provided by local contractors and suppliers, ensuring that dollars stay within the community.
Private Investment: The project is fully funded by private investment dollars—no taxpayer money is being used. This means the community benefits directly without added financial burden.
Rocky Ford Solar is committed to being a strong community partner.
Environmental Commitment
Zero Emissions: Solar energy production produces no air pollution, waste, or greenhouse gas emissions, helping improve local air quality and combat climate change.
Water Conservation: The project uses no water in its daily operations, conserving resources for residents, agriculture, and wildlife.
Quiet Operation: Solar panels generate no sound, and inverters are placed deep inside the project site so no noise reaches neighbors.
Preserved Landscapes: Natural tree buffers will be preserved, and additional screening will be added where needed, ensuring the project is visually unobtrusive.
American made energy and environmental stewardship are at the heart of the project’s design.
A Lasting Local Resource
Rocky Ford Solar is more than a temporary construction project, it is a long-term asset for Nottoway County. By generating American made, reliable power while supporting economic development and community growth, the project will provide meaningful value for decades to come.
